Mission 3.07 - ::Castor approaches MacMan before the brief begins,
looking gravely serious:: Hey Mac, gotta minute?

MacMan: Hey, RC! ":) Sure. What's up?

Castor: Take a look at this. ::hands Mac a folder::

MacMan: ::Mac glances over the materal, and smiles::

Castor: You want the pleasure, and the risk? I have to do this - you
don't.

MacMan: Hey, its me! ;) Besides, there's no way I'm going to let
you do this alone.

::the conversation comes to an abrupt halt as one of the Grey pilots
passes on his way in. Castor smiles and nods in his quick and relaxed
manner. The pilot throws Castor a casual salute without breaking
stride on his way to where his flight group likes to sit::

::Castor turns his attention back to Mac, and lowers his voice even
more::

Castor: Make no mistake, this is not going to be fun - or easy. I
can't guarentee that either one of us is going to come back.

MacMan: When does it go down?

Castor: During this mission - we're going to use the confusion to
cover our short flight to the jump.

MacMan: I'm ready, RC.

Castor: I knew I could count on you, Mac.

MacMan: One question, who else... knows about this?

Castor: Who else knows about what?

MacMan:  ::Smirks::   Gotcha!

Castor: Let's pray we're not to late... I gotta do this brief -
seeya in the hangar in about ten. Dress "casual". Nest high!

MacMan: K. C-ya Later RC. ":)

::Castor steps to the fore, looking mildly distracted. His eyes flash
back and forth touching upon the faces of the Grey pilots and the
Cadets, and mirroring the speed of his thoughts::

::Castor's gaze gaze lingers on MacMan, who nods, smiles, and winks
off-handedly as if to say "Pieca cake!"::

::After a short Jedi calming routing, Castor takes a deep breath,
concentrates on the task at hand, and begins::

This week's mission is called "Flim-Flame"

We have received an emergency transmission from "Flame". Apparently,
her crew found sufficient evidence to draw enough conclusions to
warrent mutiny. Unfortunately, for pirate leaders, that often means
death.

In any case, the General has given me the following section of her
coded "burst" transmission. "gotta run - eject r2 - is noname buoy -
delay them - meeting someone". After my short meeting with General
Greedo, I have put together this interpretation of her message:
"Things went badly after the you left, and I have to leave the Two
Star in a bit more hurry than I had planned - seems I have some
unexpected "errands" to do. I'm borrowing either a Y-Wing or an
X-Wing, which, of course, will be returned when my need for it is
done, but I'm going to eject the Starfighter's R2 unit which carries
information that you need, but will have the circuitry to make itself
appear as a simple NavBuoy. The R2/NavBuoy will be with at least one
other valid NavBuoy, but will have no ID signal. My ex-crew was
offended at my duplicity, and I'm being pursued. They seem to wish to
carry on a "Rodian style debate" (in honor of my being Rodian, I
suppose) on the subject of "pirate ethics", which, as you know,
involves bloodshed and much pain (the debating style, even more than
pirate ethics) - mostly on my part - and I am in need of you to delay
them long enough to give me time to board another craft, which will
subsequently hyper me to safety."

Of course, the General expressed his concerned about the information
that the R2/NavBuoy carries, and feels that it might be vital to our
investigation of the Star Hammer. He also stated that we will
accomodate Flame in her request, as she may be able to provide us with
more information in the future. I didn't push him on that point.

So, that, gentle beings, is our objective. We have to find Flame, and
make sure that she has enough time to dock with the craft that is
supposed to pick her up. We must ensure that the craft she actually
docks with is the craft she intends to dock with. Then we have to
find that R2/NavBuoy and make sure that it is not destroyed.

Flight 1 (you) will be flying B-Wings because of it's enhanced
shielding, and because you may find it's ions useful. Flight 2 will
be ready to launch in X-Wings, and Flight 3 will cover you in A-Wings.

We expect there to be Alliance-type Starfighters chasing her, and
possibly a few TIEs. Since TIEs are short range craft, you won't
likely see them unless the Two Star arrives also.

Keep in mind that until recently, Flame was a very successful leader
of a large band of pirates. For her crew to mutiny, it must mean
that they have information, and support, that negates any feelings
of loyalty that they may have had for her. This, of course, means
"Imperial" backing, which she couldn't have know about before she
made contact with the General.

The prep crew has lowered the eject settings on all Starfighters.
Good luck, and may the Force be with you.

One more thing, MacMan and I will not be accompanying you on this
mission - we'll be going undercover. Information being on a "need to
know basis", I can tell you this: Be warned, a Gunboat is going to
launch from the Odin in this mission. It is imperative that it make
it to it's jump point.

Dismissed!
