                              X-Wing TOPGUN

The Empire has long crumbled under the underestimated determined fist of the
Rebel Alliance, the galaxy is free again. A new Senate has been formed by the
leaders of the Rebel Alliance. But although the Senate has abolished all evil
Imperial rules, their small force is struggling to maintain control
throughout the galaxy. As fast as new recruits join up, so the slightly older,
still inexperienced recruits are lost to pirates, smugglers and other
opportunists.

In desperation, the Senate now looks to the veterans from the Star Wars, to
prove themselves good enough to succeed in dangerously suicidal missions, that
may yet restore order to the galaxy. So Topgun was setup. Only the best pilots
are capable of graduating.

So what do you say, pilot? Are you good enough? Are you committed enough? Step
this way...

Technical parts:

You will need a decent PC, 486SX or better to run this well. A 386 will run
this but any hopeful graduates will be at a disadvantage.

This overwrites tour 1.

To install unzip the TOPGUN.ZIP file into the X-Wing main directory. Type
INSTTOPG. Existing tour 1 missions are renamed and safely stored away in the
XWing mission directory with obf and oxw extensions.

Play X-Wing TOD 1 with a new pilot. This is so you can keep track of your
scores in the pilot log, and be listed on the topgun league table.
Once finished with type RESTTOD1. All original tour 1 missions are put back
in their place, old files are deleted. See how you fare against the other
pilots in the comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.flight-sim newsgroup.
